From the roar of football stadiums to the horrors of the Pacific battlefield, Netflix's The Mosquito Bowl delivers a devastating look at the human cost of war.

The streaming service has released a new red band trailer for Peter Berg's World War II drama, offering a more graphic and unflinching glimpse of the violence awaiting four promising American college football stars.

Following Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, John McLaughry (Nicholas Galitzine), Bob Bauman (Bill Skarsgård), Tony Butkovich (Ray Nicholson) and Dave Schreiner (Tom Francis) abandon their athletic ambitions to enlist in the United States Marine Corps.

Their journey takes them from university football fields to the brutal Pacific campaign, where youthful confidence gives way to the terrifying realities of combat.

Based on Pulitzer Prize-winning author Buzz Bissinger's nonfiction book The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II, the film explores the remarkable football game played by Marines on Guadalcanal before the invasion of Okinawa.

The new trailer places particular emphasis on the physical devastation of battle, combining explosive combat sequences with intimate moments of fear, friendship and sacrifice.

Directed by Peter Berg, whose previous credits include Lone Survivor and Friday Night Lights, the production uses extensive practical effects and immersive battlefield environments to recreate the soldiers' experiences.

Rather than celebrating warfare, The Mosquito Bowl examines how extraordinary circumstances transformed young athletes into soldiers facing unimaginable danger.

The Mosquito Bowl opens in select US cinemas on October 30, 2026, before premiering on Netflix on November 25.
