Disney+ has unveiled its August 2026 lineup, bringing together returning favourites, major franchise releases, original series, documentaries and new adventures from across Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and more.
The official “New on Disney+” preview offers a rapid look at a month packed with familiar worlds and some significant new additions.
Star Wars fans have one of the month’s earliest major releases with Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, arriving on August 5.
The limited series continues the story introduced in the acclaimed Star Wars: Visions shorts The Ninth Jedi and The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope. Kara continues training under Margrave Juro while joining a small group of Jedi-in-training on a mission to rescue her father and confront a mysterious Sith leader threatening the galaxy.
August 5 also brings the complete third season of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
Billie is still dealing with the disappearance of Alex following the events of Season 2 and discovers that rescuing her mother will require reconnecting with her long-lost father. The Russo family must once again combine their magical abilities as a new threat closes in.
Marvel animation also remains part of the month’s schedule, with new episodes of X-Men ’97 Season 2 continuing throughout August.
The mutant team remains scattered across different periods of history, attempting to find their way home while growing anti-mutant hostility creates new dangers in the 1990s.
One of Disney+’s biggest nostalgic releases arrives on August 14 with Camp Rock 3.
The new movie reunites Connect 3 as the band prepares for a major reunion tour. When they unexpectedly lose their opening act, they return to Camp Rock to search for a new performer.
Naturally, the competition quickly becomes much more complicated than a simple audition.
As the campers fight for the opportunity to join the tour, friendships, rivalries, romances and unexpected alliances begin reshaping life at the camp.
August 16 brings Disney Princess: The Ultimate Concert Celebration, a special event filmed at Disneyland Resort as part of World Princess Week.
The production gathers an unusually large collection of Disney Princess performers for a celebration combining music, projections, fountains and live performances inspired by Disney’s animated, live-action and stage history.
National Geographic takes centre stage on August 20 with LION.
Produced with The Lion King director Jon Favreau and BBC Studios executive producer Mike Gunton, the natural-history series follows a lion cub named Kio over four years as he grows from a vulnerable young animal into a powerful adult.
The series combines documentary filmmaking with the structure and visual scale of an epic coming-of-age story, following Kio through loss, exile, rivalries and the struggle to survive.
Disney Princess celebrations continue on August 21 with LEGO Disney Princess: Magical Mayhem, while Big City Greens returns with five new Season 5 episodes on August 22.
Another major addition follows on August 25 when Venom: The Last Dance joins Disney+ in the United States.
The month also includes new episodes of Futurama Season 14 for Hulu subscribers, alongside FX’s The Shards, the return of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and several other Hulu titles available through the Disney bundle in supported regions.
Sports, live events and documentaries expand the lineup even further, with WNBA games, PGA Tour coverage, Banana Ball and additional ESPN programming appearing throughout the month.
Disney+ is also continuing its mix of international programming, family animation and established franchises, with titles including Flex X Cop, Pokémon: Indigo League, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir and Sofia the First: Royal Magic appearing during August.
The result is an unusually broad month for the streaming service.
Whether viewers are returning to Camp Rock, exploring a new corner of the Star Wars galaxy, following Marvel’s mutants through time or watching a real lion grow into a king, August offers something from almost every corner of the Disney portfolio.
