Ewoks Save the Rebels in Classic Return of the Jedi Battle
The Ewoks turn the tide against the Empire in an official Star Wars: Return of the Jedi clip, revisiting one of the original trilogy's most memorable battles on Endor.
Sometimes the smallest heroes can make the biggest difference. An official Star Wars clip revisits one of the most memorable moments from Return of the Jedi, as the Ewoks help the Rebel Alliance fight back against the Galactic Empire on the forest moon of Endor.
In the 1983 film, Han Solo, Princess Leia and their fellow Rebels launch a dangerous mission to disable the shield generator protecting the second Death Star. However, their plans unravel when Imperial forces discover their presence and surround them.
Just when defeat seems inevitable, the Ewoks enter the battle, using their knowledge of the forest and an assortment of surprisingly effective traps to challenge the Empire's heavily armed troops.
Armed with spears, slingshots, logs and remarkable determination, the small forest dwellers turn the seemingly hopeless confrontation into a chaotic fight for freedom.
The sequence features Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia and Warwick Davis as Wicket, one of the Ewoks who helps bring the Rebels and the forest inhabitants together.
Directed by Richard Marquand, Return of the Jedi concludes the original Star Wars trilogy, bringing Luke Skywalker's confrontation with Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine to its dramatic climax.
The Battle of Endor remains a defining example of the franchise's recurring theme: courage, cooperation and unexpected alliances can overcome even the most intimidating enemies.
